So you’re ready to sell…but you don’t know where to begin. Here are some practical things that you can do to get your home ready to put on the market so that you can sell quickly and for top dollar.
Contact a real estate agent. Your agent is there to walk you through every step of the process and will give you tips and information along the way. They are there to answer questions, price the home correctly, take care of contracts and paperwork, and most importantly, market your home!
It’s time to detach emotionally from your home. Shift your mindset to think of your property as a product. If it was put on a store shelf next to all the other homes in the area for sale, what would set it apart?
Clear the clutter. Once you are ready to make your home a product, it’s time to get rid of anything that would distract a potential buyer from noticing the features your home has to offer.
Make repairs. You may not be able or willing to repair everything wrong with your property, but the more you take care of before you put it on the market, the more likely it will sell quicker and for more money.
Clean! Now that you’ve cleared the clutter and done repairs, make sure your home is clean. This ensures that buyers won’t be put off by grimy sinks or strange smells.
Freshen your landscaping. Even if you just weed your flower beds and add fresh mulch, a maintained yard can do wonders for the curb appeal of your home.
